The building was built under the management of Professor
Paul Bonatz
in 1927. For the construction, the architect used
concrete and steel, which were new materials at
that time.
The facade was covered with rough-textured shell
limestone shaped into rectangular blocks.
The main train station is classified under
monumental protection and is located in downtown
Stuttgart, in close proximity
of the Königstraße
(Stuttgart’s shopping district) and the Palace
Gardens, otherwise known as the "Green
U" of Stuttgart.

A great view of Stuttgart can be seen from station’s
tower.
In the train station’s tower, you
will currently find the exhibition Stuttgart
21, which is a project of the City of Stuttgart that
consists of a complex reconstruction of the train station
into an underground through station.
If you are already looking at the Stuttgart 21 exhibit,
take a few minutes and ride the elevator to the top of
the tower. There you will find a wonderful view
of Stuttgart and its surroundings!
